The Power of Three

Our volunteers are at the centre of the service we provide. Without them we would not be able to provide care, comfort, play and entertainment to children in hospital.
When the pandemic struck in 2020, no-one knew what to expect or what the future would look like when it was all over and the direct impact it would have on the charity. It took us 3 years to get our remaining volunteers back into our London hospitals and a lot had happened during this time. Some volunteers had moved away, started new jobs, got married, had children, found themselves with other responsibilities, taken the opportunity to further their learning and education to name a few. What this ultimately meant was they were unable to return to volunteering.
Losing over half of our volunteers across both London hospitals (Great Ormond Street Hospital and Evelina London Children's Hospital) was a challenge but we persevered and several recruitment drives later those numbers are slowly but surely creeping upwards.

We last welcomed new Radio Lollipop volunteers at Evelina London Children's Hospital back in 2019, so you can imagine the joy and excitement in October 2025, when we welcomed not 1, not 2 but 3 new volunteers!!! They've joined the team and settled in so well, it feels like they've been with us for a long time. Welcome to the team, it's great to have you onboard!

If you'd like to find out more about becoming a Radio Lollipop volunteer, drop us a line at londonvolunteers@radiolollipop.org before Thursday 8 January. The team will share details of how to register for our Information Evening, the first step of the recruitment process. The next Information Evening will be Monday 12 January 2026.
Do something incredible and get in touch today.
