After 3 years, in March 2023, the Radio Lollipop teams at Great Ormond Street Hospital made their return.
It had been a challenging few years and so much had changed, yet the core of Radio Lollipop still remained for 'volunteers to provide care, comfort, play and entertainment to children in hospital'. Ahead of the training sessions, volunteers shared their thoughts on their return, expressing a combined feeling of excitement and uncertainty, however with the correct training and support from both Radio Lollipop and the hospital, they were raring to go.
Sunday 5th March at 3:45pm, it was time to go live! 🎶

The Super Sunday volunteers gathered at their new hub in full uniform ready to take on their Lollipop duties. In that exact moment, it felt like no time had passed and that the last 3 years had never happened, everything felt exactly the same. It was official Radio Lollipop at Great Ormond Street were back. Naturally some things had changed in the way things were done (if you have any ideas how to blow bubbles through a mask, drop us a line) but it means everyone can all have fun and be safe.
Next up was Magic Monday's turn, 5:45pm and the adrenaline was pumping. Trolleys prepped, radio queued they were all set. It was time to get back in action! Thumbs Up Thursday followed suit and within weeks Wacky Wednesday was back up running too.
Radio Lollipop is more than a charity, it's a family who stick together...
"Lollipop has been a big part of my life for a long time and now we're back, it means I have my family and my normality back".
It's only a matter of time before we're back at Evelina London Children's Hospital...watch this space for more exciting news!
