Time to GET ACTIVE!

Feeling energised, not even the rain could dampen our mood. Crafts and DJ equipment collected, it was time to head over to Lee Valley Athletics Centre for this year's Get Active! Walking across the indoor track and understanding the purpose of the day, we felt proud to be involved and couldn't wait to get started.

As the doors opened, the tunes started flowing and sure enough the song requests started pouring in - front runners this year were Disney's WISH and of course all things Frozen, looks like we're holding out for a bit longer and not ready to Let It Go. Over at the crafts table personalised cups were being designed and dazzling gems being picked out and what could only be described as 'stickers galore' on one particular piece.

In pairs, we took a lap around the athletics centre to uncover all the other activities taking place - fencing, high jump and dance to name a few. 11:20am and the 10-minute reminder was announced, letting everyone know that the indoor track races would be taking place. As the children gathered at the start line, a familiar face jumped out of nowhere to be part of the fun.

The children took it very seriously and fiercely ran around the track, even a very young toddler had pure determination to get round, all the while Radio Lollipop volunteers stood and cheered everyone on the entire way round..."Wooooo, you can do it!"

From cheerleaders to perfect models...

Inspired by Radio Lollipop, Frozen and butterflies, we think our volunteers wore it well.

With laughter echoing in our corner, GOSH's Bernard Bear came over to have some fun, some serious fun!

Later in the day we saw the clouds push apart and make way for the sun, setting the perfect backdrop as we giggled, danced and played our way through the afternoon.
